Once accepted, Mardel kept within strict delivery and installation deadlines to complete the job. Brendan Murphy - ICT Co-ordinator said "From the early design stages through to the finishing touches Mardel have been an excellent company to work alongside. Even with the schools tight deadlines and complex design Mardel delivered exactly what we had hoped for and more. The constant line of communication with the project manager and the installers ensured that we were always kept up to date. Thanks to the success of this, and other projects carried out by Mardel, we will be working with them again."

Bordesley Green Girls School
Birmingham

Bordesley Green Girls School's new Business & Enterprise Centre was officially opened in May 2006. Mardel had previously tendered for the design, supply and installation of all loose and fitted furniture. The design and layout demands were for optimum occupancy levels and sufficient storage facilities. Mardel furnished four classrooms, two ICT suites (with fitted worktops), three offices, the reception and store rooms. A carefully chosen range of furniture was complimented by matching bespoke joinery where required. Linda Driscoll, Centre Coordinator said; "We found Mardel to be efficient, professional and very flexible in responding to our requirements. They also worked with us to draw up designs and made suggestions for appropriate equipment. I have no hesitation in recommending them for similar projects".

Robert Shaw Primary
Nottingham

Robert Shaw Primary Schools new dining area was designed to accommodate sittings of up to seventy pupils. To make best use of available space, perimeter benching was fitted along suitable walls supported by stylish 60mm diameter tubular legs in silver. These legs were adjustable to allow for the uneven floor. Fully welded steel framed tables were planned out in the remaining space. This allowed flexibility, creating the option for different table layouts. The table & benching tops were manufactured using 25mm MFC wood. Our fully qualified joiners cut around pillars and radiators to provide a first class finish. Mardel always use matching beading to cover exposed edges.

Bennerley Secondary School
Derbyshire

The school asked Mardel for design and layout ideas for its library to provide a fresh modern environment that would appeal to the children. A new ITC suite and reception counter were the main requirements. Our proposal not only met a tight budget but benefitted the school providing more furniture than they had expected to be able to afford. The library space was compromised by an existing support pillar in the middle of the room. Mardel overcame this problem by building an eight unit modular pod around the pillar. Lockable CPU cupboards were supplied to improve security and desk mounted screens were added to define pupil areas. The new reception counter was designed to comply with DDA legislation, having a low level access area alongside the standard height. The school chose a fresh Japanese Ash look with brushed silver legs and matching porthole covers. The school had a tight deadline but Mardel was able to complete the project from initial meeting to installation in just two weeks. Ian Wilks, Deputy Head said; "The quality of the furniture and efficiency of installation was excellent. We have subsequently used Mardel for further requirements".

Loughborough Endowed Schools
Loughborough

Following Mardel's fit out of the new music teaching block the schools new facilities are proving to be a great success. The building comprises some thirty plus rooms and accomodates over two hundred pupils. Mardel's expertise within the educational interiors market made it possible to complete a demanding project on time and within budget. Mr Alex Mitchell - Director of Music said; "We are delighted with the design and layout of our new ICT facilities here at the new joint music school at the Loughborough Endowed Schools. the quality of the fitting and finish is excellent".

Hollygirt Girls School
Nottingham

Part of Hollygirt’s major summer refurbishment included refits for the Design & Technology and Music rooms. Mardel were asked to redesign these areas to make the most of available space. As the building is of Victorian design the rooms required precise planning and design to fit with modern educational requirements. The D & T room was designed with fitted worktops with island units to provide adequate work areas. Formica was chosen for long term durability. Unsightly recesses were made into fitted cupboards to optimise storage potential.
The music room was redesigned to provide workstations capable of accommodating both music and computer keyboards.

Canterbury Cross School
Birmingham

A complete refurbishment was required for Canterbury Cross’s main administration office.
Key design and planning elements included the provision of a designated work area for each administrator, maximum storage capacity and document collating areas. Work surface was optimised by precise fitting of furniture against available wall area with additional storage supplied by overhead wall mounted bookcases. Hawk Furniture’s robust, cost effective Giorgio range in Beech was chosen for a fresh contemporary look.
